BIO

Kool Johnny Kool (KJK); born Dalbert Wright is a writer and lyricist,
who delivers an intense vibe through dancehall and cultural reggae
music. His name was derived from his cool and calm demeanor.

 

KJK was born in St. Catherine, Jamaica and raised in Kingston. His career
began with Media Mix Sound followed by the Silver Hawk Sound
System. KJK’s first album, “Strength and Power” was produced and
released by a French based company. KJK released three other
albums: “Jammin”, a compilation album “Smile from the Heart” and
“True Feelings”. In addition to working on his musical career he also
has collaborations with other artistes like Max Romeo with whom he
worked on a great single “War in Babylon”.


KJK has been touring for many years and his first international
performance was in Ghana, West Africa at the Panifest. He
performed for an audience of over 60,000 people. Kool has
performed with various reggae artistes including Gregory Isaacs,
Mutabaruka, Max Romeo, Culture, The Heptones, Shabba Ranks,
Beenie Man, Anthony B and many more.


This dynamic artiste and performer has toured in France, Holland,
Germany, Italy, Spain, Poland, Austria, Switzerland, the United States,
Japan, Mexico, Columbia, the Caribbean and many more. KJK
toured with Dubtonic Kru in Europe, North and South America on
their 2010 “Victory Tour”, 2011 “Celebration Tour” and 2012 “Journey
Tour” and performed on several European festivals in 2013. His 2014
Tour was with Anthony B and the House of Riddim Band in Europe
where he performed on Rototom Sunsplash and Summer Jam
Festival. In that same year, he continued to tour with Anthony B in
the US and South America and also toured Europe with him in spring
2015.


In 2017 Kool Johnny Kool achieved yet another milestone releasing
his fifth studio album. The project aptly titled "Quest" underscores the
artist's unrelenting commitment to his music and craft. Produced by
his own Knacks Entertainment, the album boasts 12 tracks including
the dancehall flavoured "Housing Skeme" and "Quest" and socially
conscious "Dig Deep" to name a few.


In support of "Quest" Kool Johnny Kool jetted to Europe in late
summer of 2017 to do a six week tour alongside lifelong friend and
fellow musician Kamau Imhotep playing to audiences in Holland,
Greece, Austria and Sardinia. As his "Quest" continues, Kool Johnny
Kool is excited and even more determined to create music that will
last a lifetime.
